Visit the
Ministry of Community and Social Services Homelessness Helplines page
for the South East Region for where to call when you are in need of
emergency shelter. This page provides places to call for those living in
Hastings, Prince Edward and Lennox and Addington Counties.
We have also prepared a
List
of Rent Assistance and Housing Resources for Hastings, Lennox &
Addington and Prince Edward Counties.
This is a list of places you can get funds from to help you with your
rent arrears.
Your
local Ontario Works office can provide assistance for emergency
housing if you have become homeless even if you are not currently a
recipient of Ontario Works. If you are a recipient of Ontario Works (or
Ontario Disability) and are being evicted for rent arrears, you can
request Community Start-Up and Maintenance Benefits (CSUMB) to help pay
these arrears and prevent your eviction or to pay start up costs at a
new residence.

Education Ontario (CLEO) has publications available on
Eviction and Fighting an Eviction.
The
Hastings Housing
Resource Centre
(HHRC) provides assistance locating and securing
immediate temporary and permanent housing for residents of Hastings
County. They provide listings
of available housing, information and support to tenants. Landlords can
list units for free.
The HHRC provides
emergency assistance information
on their site. This emergency help page will provide you
with information (for Belleville, Quinte West, Centre
Hastings and North Hastings) on the following:

Housing Outreach
Program
This program (in Prince Edward and Lennox
and Addington Counties only), by Prince Edward - Lennox and Addington
Social Services, offers a one time assistance loan, to a maximum
of $1000, and includes an agreement to repay.

Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO)
CLEO
produces two pamphlets on domestic violence: "Do You Know a Woman Who
is Being Abused?" is available online here, as well as "Immigrant
Women and Domestic Violence" (this link is to the web page the
pamphlet is located on - scroll down to "Immigration and Refugee Fact
Sheets" and click on the pamphlet name).
Ontario Women's Justice Network
The
Ontario Women's Justice
Network is an online legal resource for women's
organizations and individuals working on issues related to justice and
violence against women and children. This site also has a page
dedicated to rural women called the
Rural
Women's Justice Guide.
CLEONet

Advocacy Centre for the Elderly (ACE)
The
Advocacy Centre for the Elderly is a clinic specializing in
assisting low income seniors. Their
Elder Abuse page provides definitions of abuse and links to FAQ's,
