Us
at the
Community
Advocacy & Legal Centre
At our clinic we strive to meet the needs of all our
clients. Deaf clients may reach us in a variety of ways:

Our intake staff can book appointments with
Canadian Hearing Society (CHS) interpreters to meet with you and our
lawyers for legal advice. Please note an appointment with an
interpreter may take up to 2 weeks.

*Note: There
is a possibility that our IT department may block some email addresses
as spam (especially if you are using a Hotmail or other free service
account). If you receive notification that your email has been
rejected, or you have not had a response from us within 48 hours, please
use Bell relay or TTY to contact us. Once we are given your email
address we can instruct our IT department to stop blocking it for future
use.

Canadian Hearing Society
The Canadian
Hearing Society provides services that enhance the independence of deaf,
deafened and hard of hearing people, and that encourage prevention of
hearing loss. They have an area office in
Belleville and a regional office in

Ontario Association of the Deaf - Jennifer Jackson, Executive
Director
Their mandate is to
"Provide leadership, resources and activities that promote and protect
rights, equality and access of Deaf Ontarians."
Canadian Association for the Deaf
Founded in 1940 by
the three regional associations of the Deaf, the CAD is the national
consumer organization of Canada’s 300,000 Deaf citizens.
Canadian Hard of Hearing Association
The Canadian Hard
of Hearing Association (CHHA) is a consumer-based organization formed by
and for hard of hearing Canadians. CHHA works cooperatively with
professionals, service providers and government bodies, and provides
information about hard of hearing issues and solutions. CHHA is Canada's
only nation-wide non-profit consumer organization run by and for hard of
hearing people.
Silent Voice Canada
Silent Voice Canada serves deaf children, deaf youth and deaf adults, as
well as their families in a sign language environment. We are dedicated
to improving communication and relationships between deaf and hearing in
families and in our community. Silent Voice is an agency grounded in
Catholic values offering services to the whole community.
Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada
Lions Foundation of
Canada operates Dog Guides Canada.
Hearing Ear Dogs alert people who are hard of
hearing to important sounds and bring an independence and new confidence
to their silent lives. Visit their site to see how you can get a hearing
ear dog at no cost. They have an online application form.
Ontario Long Term Care Home for the Deaf
We are committed to
enhancing the quality of life and self-determination of Deaf seniors.
ASL Access
ASL Access is the
world's only organization specifically created to promote public access
to a sign language.

Resources
Springtide
Resources promotes healthy and equal

Education Wife Assault
Their mission is to inform
and educate the community about the issue of wife assault/woman abuse in
