Pro Bono Law Ontario

Pro Bono Law Ontario (PBLO) has a section of their site for the public, Law Help Ontario, which has links to guidebooks for self-represented litigants. They also have links to court guides and forms and videos on representing yourself in Small Claims Court.  They will provide advice by phone for those living more than 40 kms away from their Toronto or Ottawa walk-in centres.

 

Ontario Courts, Including Small Claims Court

 

The Ministry of the Attorney General's Court Services page provides information on court locations, jury duty, court processes, forms and fees, as well as how to obtain a fee waiver.  There is information specifically on small claims court, including publications such as "Before Making a Claim in Small Claims Court." Also available online are Small Claims Court rules, forms and guides.  These guides include titles such as "Guide to Making a Claim" and "Guide to Replying to a Claim."  See also the Court Forms Assistant to help you fill out forms step by step.

 

The Ontario Bar Association also hosts a series of videos on Small Claims Court procedures on their YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/ALERTOBA.

You can also visit the Ontario Government's E-laws site to view the Rules of Civil Procedure (regulation under the Courts of Justice Act).

 

Search upcoming court dates at http://www.ontariocourtdates.ca.  Online dockets will be posted daily at 4:30 p.m. and are listed alphabetically by courthouse.  Cases listed include matters in criminal, civil, family, bankruptcy, small claims and divisional courts.
